First on our list is the Chateau de Brissac. Located in the Loire Valley, this beautiful castle may seem like a fairy tale dream, but don't be fooled. Legend has it that a former owner caught his wife cheating on him and murdered her lover right in the castle. Since then, the ghost of the murdered man has been spotted wandering the halls. But don't let that scare you away from the beautiful architecture and lovely gardens that surround the castle.

Next up is the Hotel Biron. This hotel may seem unassuming, but it has a dark past. During World War II, it was used as a headquarters for the Gestapo, and many prisoners were tortured and killed within its walls. Today, guests have reported hearing strange noises and feeling a cold breeze, as if the ghosts of those prisoners are still there. But if you're feeling brave, the hotel has been converted into a museum, so you can check out the art and history while also potentially encountering some spooky spirits.

Moving on, we have the Chateau de Puymartin. This castle in the Dordogne region is said to be haunted by the ghost of a woman who was locked up in the castle's tower by her jealous husband. She died there and her spirit is said to still roam the halls, weeping and moaning. But if you can handle the ghostly sounds, the castle is worth a visit for its beautiful architecture and stunning views.

Last but not least, we have the Hotel de la Monnaie. This hotel in Paris may seem like a luxury destination, but it has a dark secret. It was once a mint, where coins were made, and many prisoners were kept in the basement to do the work. Some say that the ghosts of those prisoners still haunt the hotel today, with reports of strange noises and apparitions. But don't let that deter you from the hotel's luxurious accommodations and prime location in the heart of Paris.
