Chapter 10: The Twist

Detective Peter Pux sat at his desk, staring at the empty case file in front of him. It had been a year since he had solved the case of Jessica's murder and brought her killer, Alex, to justice. But despite the closure that the trial had brought, Peter couldn't shake the feeling of sadness and disgust that washed over him whenever he thought about the case.

He knew that he had done his job, and that he had brought justice to Jessica and her family. But it wasn't going to bring her back, and her family and friends were still struggling to come to terms with her tragic death.

As he packed up his things and headed home for the day, Peter couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness. He had finally put this case to rest, but he knew that it would always stay with him.

But as he walked through the door of his house, he was greeted with a surprise that he never could have expected.

There, standing in his living room, was Jessica. She was alive, and she was safe.

Peter couldn't believe what he was seeing. He had thought that she was gone, that she had been killed by Alex. But here she was, standing in front of him, alive and well.

It turned out that Jessica had faked her own death to escape from a dangerous ex-boyfriend who had been stalking her. She had never planned on involving Alex in her plan, but things had gotten out of hand, and he had ended up confessing to her murder in a fit of jealousy.

Peter couldn't believe what he was hearing. He had thought that he had solved the case, but it had all been a misunderstanding. Jessica was alive, and Alex was innocent.

But despite the twist at the end, Peter knew that he had done the right thing. He had brought justice to Jessica and her family, and that was all that mattered.
